Multi-component light & fractional platform
Not one treatment — a platform combining several technologies that address different tissue targets, matched to the layer of the problem being treated rather than applied as a single default.
What it is
Nordlys combines Selective Waveband Technology (SWT) IPL with fractional 1550 nm and 1940 nm lasers and, depending on configuration, a 1064 nm Nd:YAG wavelength. Each component addresses a different tissue target — the platform is not one instrument with one job.
How it works
Pigmentation, redness and texture can coexist in the same patient, and Nordlys illustrates why the machine name matters less than the target: a patient may need one component of the platform, a sequence of components, or an entirely different technology altogether.

Four components, four targets
Each component answers a different question.
Each configured component addresses a different tissue target:
- SWT IPL
Filtered light bands for selected pigmentary and vascular targets, depending on configuration.
- 1550 nm fractional
A non-ablative fractional wavelength used for deeper resurfacing and texture-related applications.
- 1940 nm fractional
A more superficial non-ablative fractional wavelength used for resurfacing and selected benign pigmented lesions.
- 1064 nm Nd:YAG
A wavelength option used for selected vascular and other indicated targets.

Nordlys is one option within the Pigment & Vascular treatment family. Which component, if any, applies follows from assessment of the specific concern.
Pigmentation & uneven tone — Considered when the SWT IPL or 1940 nm component matches the pigment pattern and depth found on assessment.
Redness & visible vessels — Considered when the SWT IPL or 1064 nm Nd:YAG component matches a vascular finding.
Texture & enlarged pores — Considered when the 1550 nm fractional component matches a resurfacing or textural finding.
How Dr. Lancho thinks about it
Nordlys illustrates the principle that the machine name is less important than the target. Pigmentation, redness and texture can coexist, and the task is to choose the correct component for each layer of the problem — not to treat everything with the same setting because it's available on one platform.
When another approach may make more sense
If none of the platform's four components matches what assessment finds — for example, a concern that calls for deeper remodeling, a different wavelength, or an entirely different approach — another technology or treatment family may be the more direct fit.
